Should You Send Baptism Invitations?

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Will you be mailing out christening or baptism invitations?  This is a momentous occasion and deserves to be announced in formal style to family and friends.

Christening or baptism invitations provide guests with all the details of this spiritual event making them an important part of your planning.  Shopping online and having them printed by a professional printer will certainly save you time since you will only have to address them for mailing.  Invitation websites usually have a nice selection of christening and baptism invitation designs available.

TIP – It’s usually more cost effective to include a few more invitations in your original order than to have to order more later.  Additional baptism invitations can be used for extra guests not originally included in your count.  Also, be sure to save at least one as a souvenir so it can be framed, placed in a memory album or added to your baby’s scrapbook.

Here are the details to include on your christening or baptism invitations.

·         Baby’s Name

·         Parents’ Names

·         Date and Time of Baptism or Christening Ceremony

·         Name and Address of Ceremony Location

·         Time and Location of Reception (if separate from ceremony)

If you are planning a formal celebration and inviting quite a few guests, you might want to include some type of RSVP on the invitation to help in your seating and food planning. This can range from placing your phone number at the bottom of the invitation to actually including a separate response card for your guests to return to you. When ordering baptism invitations, some of the formal styles will have a matching response card available.  If you include a response card, be sure to place a postage stamp on its accompanying envelope as a convenience to your guests since your mailing address will be printed on the return envelope.

Thank you cards or informal note cards are sometimes also available to match your invitations.  Informal note cards will have your baby’s name printed on the front with the inside being blank for your handwritten thank you note.

This is the first step of your baby’s spiritual life that deserves to be celebrated with family and friends so you’ll want to formally announce all the details with special baptism or christening invitations.  Remember to save one to cherish as a lasting keepsake for you and your baby.

Make The Celebration Extremely Special With A Personalized Baby Shower Gift

Friday, September 26th, 2008

There are a dozen beautiful and effective methods of personalizing a baby shower gift and the results can make a gift something truly special.

A gift may be personalized by adding a simple sticker on the underside, embossing the side or adding stitching to it across the top. And your addition could display the baby’s name, the parents’ names, the names of the grandparents or the name of the giver.

A baby shower gift may even be decorated with a meaningful photo, phrase or logo. The text used to personalize the gift may be chosen by the giver or added by the gift’s designer. A logo can be drawn by a professional or by the individual who buys the gift. A photo can be selected from a wide range of stock images or supplied by the giverand then incorporated into the baby gift.

Personalization transforms an otherwise impersonal present into a keepsake which will be treasured forever. It gives a reminder of festive events and imparts an incentive to hand the gift down from one generation to the next. Monogramming can add names to items made of cloth and printing provides an ideal way to personalize anything which is capable of absorbing ink.

For instance, a slumber bear makes for a great present. Babies adore the soft, teddy bear design and parents are happy knowing the present is sturdy and manufactured from good materials. In later years both parents and the then baby will be able to look back on the baby shower at which the gift was received and personalizing the gift makes that memory all the sweeter.

Another wonderful gift is a Dilly the Duck cashmere pillow that affords the perfect opportunity to stitch on the name of the baby. In later years that present will evolve from a treasured nursery item to a memento of those tender years. Years after it has been received both parties will look back to the many happy times spent reading a storybook while the youngster’s head nestled into it.

Those storybooks can themselves be personalized in the shape of a Fairy Tale book which carries all manner of individual markings. For stories which have been written by the parents, they can be signed with the author’s name and date. Where the book is purchased then the gift giver can sign the book and print the name of the recipient on the flyleaf. All these methods and more can turn a simple storybook into a prized reminder of childhood.

Another baby shower gift which allows personalization is a birth plate on which you can paint the name of the baby across the rim or on the base. Here the best choice is possibly to print the name of the baby, birth weight and date along the rim to mark the birth of that very special person who came into your life on that date.

Of course these are only a few of the many ways to create unique baby shower gifts.

Is Opening a Daycare an Option for You?

Friday, May 30th, 2008

There are many things to consider when looking into opening a daycare center. Many people find the idea appealing as this type of business seems to always be in demand and owning your own business can lead to more independence. As with any business opportunity, there are pros and cons that should be looked at.

Is There a Need?

When beginning research into opening a daycare center there are some questions to consider. One area that should be investigated when looking into opening a daycare is whether there is a need for a day care in your area.

A way to check this out is by calling daycare centers around your area. Find out if there is a wait list for the day care centers. This is a good way to determine if there is an additional need for a daycare center and if opening a daycare would be a beneficial business opportunity. Also when talking with other daycare centers find out what their rates are and it can be a good idea to actually check out these businesses to see what they offer parents.

Marketing

Another resource that can be used when considering opening a daycare center is discovering if there is a referral service in your area. Referral service companies give parents names of local daycare centers. This resource can supply a potential business owner with the names of daycare centers that can then be called to check out what the local competition is.

Once it is determined that there does seem to be a need for an additional daycare center, a potential business owner then must take the next step which involves checking out licensing.

Licensing

All states have different rules about daycare centers and finding out what your state requires to get a license is an important step. It is easy to find out the rules by contacting your states Department of Family Services. These rules can help you find out how many employees will be needed, what types of meals can be offered and other important rules in regards to opening a daycare center.

Type of Facility

Now that it has been determined that your area could use another daycare center and your aware of the rules, it’s time to check out if it’s a commercial daycare center that your interested in opening or an at home daycare.

Opening a commercial daycare center does involve a bigger investment and can be a big leap for many. Some people choose an at home day care center to begin with and then decide if this is truly a business that they want to be in. Opening a daycare center may take some time and research, but this can be a profitable and enjoyable field to be in.
