Over 6000 cases of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) are reported each year, and more than 900 of these are due to babies’ soft nursery bedding. Which brings up the question of safety for your infants mattress.
There is a risk of the infant suffocating if soft bedding is used. Especially if the head sinks into the bedding. You may think a soft mattress is more comfortable for your little one, but if it is too soft, it may not be safe. To avoid fatal accidents when the baby is sleeping, there should be someone always nearby to keep an eye on the position of the baby’s head. When the baby’s head is placed on the soft mattress, they may not have enough strength to come back in a good position.

Choosing baby nursery bedding is fun and exciting. From the huge selection of bedding to choose from, picking the perfect one for your baby girl is not hard to do. Whatever choice you may pick, it is key that it gives her ample care and protection.
Go for crib bedding that is good quality because you cannot afford to put your baby at risk. The baby’s cot serves as her bed and her playhouse at the same time. Your baby stays there a lot of the time, so it is very important that she is comfortable.

Cot beds are basically cots which are wider and longer than a standard size cot. Often parents choose to buy a cot bed instead of a cot because cot beds change into a junior bed - that is a toddler sized bed - after baby has outgrown the nursery cot.
A junior bed is smaller than an adult bed. As a very basic guide, a cot bed will normally last until your child is about three or four years old, depending on their size.

It’s a good idea to begin planning for your baby nursery bedding even before your baby is born. To start with, don’t be misled by the argument that you cant plan for babys crib bedding without knowing if its going to be a girl or a boy. Its true parents want different designs, patterns and colours for girl and boy babies. Please dont worry about this because there are many bedding choices and even nursery color options available in the market which are fine for both girls and boys.

When you bring your bouncing new baby home, you will want to have essentials in place ready, including the baby’s crib. But with all of the many varieties on the market today and with most people attempting to stick to some type of budget, how is one to know what to look for, which brand or model is better than another, or how cheap is “too cheap?”
When you first start choosing a baby crib, put safety first, and ensure government safety standards are met. The US, for example, has compulsory safety standards, covering things such as the gap between the cribs slats or bars. When choosing a crib, safety should be high in your thoughts, and the distance from the mattress to the top of the rails is critical.

Cotton sheets and blankets are the traditional cot bedding choices for parents. This is because using cot blankets and cot sheets gives a parent the ability to keep their baby at the perfect temperature through adding or removing layers when needed. Some parents even choose to make their own cot sheets by cutting and sewing sheets from a regular adult sized bed if if they don't want to buy those made specifically for a cot. For parents who wish to buy cot bedding there are some fabulous choices which are easily available in stores and also online via the internet.

So you’ve bought the crib – congratulations! But now you must be wondering what bedding you’re going to put in it. A large number of bedding sets will include many different items, but you might find that you don’t really need them all. The most up-to-date recommendation for crib bedding is to use sheets only, and keep other bedding out. Leaks will happen, of course, so buy a few extra crib sheets. It’s better to spend your money on a few really good, durable, and comfortable crib sheets than on accessories you don’t even need.

We had nothing else to do yesterday, so we decided we’d better go pick out the crib bedding. I was sure it would be easy; we’d already chosen the brown and pink theme. I was convinced that the task would be complete within the hour, after all, we only had to look at a couple of choices and pick one. When we got to the store, they told us they don’t sell baby bedding (maybe we should have called ahead to find out…). At the next store, we found baby bedding, but brown and pink was mysteriously absent. I thought that was strange, because I was certain that brown and pink were hot nursery colors. I couldn’t believe it when even the third store we visited didn’t have what we wanted. We went home and Jack suggested we look online. I’ve never liked the idea of shopping online, but I was getting desperate. It was surprisingly easy AND we found exactly what we were looking for: Maya baby bedding! So of course the first thing Jack said after that was, “Why didn’t you do this in the first place???”

If you’re not sure how you want to decorate your nursery, start by choosing the baby bedding set. The nursery is all planned out. You’ve chosen the crib, the rug, the stuffed animals, even the light-switch covers… but have you forgotten something? When planning the nursery, you need to carefully choose your crib bedding set. Here are some of the main things to consider:
– First are foremost, consider your newborn’s comfort. Bedding should be soft, with 100% cotton being one of the best choices. Knit cotton, flannel, and high thread count woven cotton are all excellent choices.
